Britney Spears doesn’t get laughs, but does get three awards at VMAs

Just a year after mumbling through a zombie-like performance on the MTV Video Music Awards, Britney Spears seemed to rise from the dead at this year’s event.
The former teen queen had never even won a single VMA before. This time, she swept three of the biggest prizes - Best Female, Best Pop Video and Video of the Year - for her “Piece of Me” clip.
“I’m in shock right now,” said Spears after bagging the prizes.
The singer opened last night’s show as well in a much-hyped appearance that didn’t involve a note of singing or a step of dancing. (more)
